Over 30 Years  Breeding My Old Family Reds

What Are Old Family Reds ?

Strega Rossa (Rosie)

Strega Rossa (Rosie)

They are a strain of American Pitbull Terrier that came to this country in the early 1920's through mostly Irish Immigrants. They are known for their tanned eyes, red nose, and red toe nails. Though most any bloodline will produce a red nose dog, True Old Family Reds can be traced back to well known breeders such as Bob Wallace, Bob Hemphill, and Jake Wilder to name a few. One of the first, and best known breeders to bring these dogs from the Old Country was Mr. William Lightner.

The "Cross" Bloodline

In 1984, after completing 4 years in the US Navy, and reading many books on our breed. I immediately had a fascination with the Old Family Dogs, and their history. I started out with Killens Cid dogs. My Outcrosses have been "Iron Cody", thanks to Shelly Cosper of California, "Diane", thanks to Jimmy Marquez of Texas, and a 25% outcross through "King Kota" thanks to Mike Fernandez of Boston. All my Outcrosses are of well respected Old Family Bloodlines. I don't sell dogs for a living. My only concern is that they go to people who are Knowledgable, Respectful, and Responsible.
